Enter the NMSA Closed tournament – qualify for the IPT

The Northerns Masters Squash Association hosts the NMSA Closed championship from 12 to 16 June this year at a number of clubs around the city. The Closed is our premier tournament for the year and is used as qualifier and ranking tournament for the Inter Provincial Tournament (IPT) teams to represent Northerns in East London from 7 to 12 September.

Players are requested to enter online on the NMSA Closed tournament page and to indicate their availability for the IPT teams. Northerns entered 13 men’s teams and 3 ladies’ teams last year and we would like to send even more and stronger teams this year.

The NMSA Closed will be played over 4 rounds. The first 3 rounds will be played on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with the final round on Saturday 16 June. Play will be completed around 15h00, to be followed by the prize giving and a social that will incorporate the rugby test against England at 17h00. More detail to follow later.

Entries close on 4 June but we urge everyone to enter as soon as possible in order for the committee to evaluate which sections we’re going to enter at the IPT – the submissions must be done by 31 May.

The following fees are payable on entry for the NMSA Closed:

  • The entry fee for the NMSA Closed of R150.
  • If you haven’t participated in any NMSA event this year you have to also pay the R50 once off registration fee.
  • If you are available for IPT then also pay R200 IPT deposit. If you don’t get selected or you eventually can’t play in the IPT, your deposit will be refunded.

Only players eligible to represent Northerns at the IPT may enter the NMSA Closed. Players must be over 35, an active member of a Northerns club and in good standing with NMSA. Draws will be done in age groups but age groups may be combined depending on the number of entries.
