2017 Dave Short Masters IPT

The annual DAVE SHORT Tournament will be held in Pietermaritzburg over the weekend of the 2nd to 4th June 2017 at Collegians Club.

The tournament format will remain the same as in previous years with each player enjoying 3 singles matches.  Please note that entries are restricted to the first 250 players on a first come first serve basis.

  • Any squash player wishing to compete in this Tournament must have a Squash South Africa number and be in good standing with all sections of NSF.
  • As this in an interprovincial Tournament all Northern’s Squash Players wishing to participate must apply through NMSA.
  • Please remember that the R100 Masters Registration fee is also applicable to all members of Dave Short Teams.

Northerns shine at SA Schools championships

This past weekend saw the second qualifying tournament for 2017 SA Top 10 rankings for the u14, u16 and u19 age groups – the SA Schools Closed that took place at the Parkview Squash Centre in Johannesburg. Northerns were well represented with 4 players per gender per age group participating.

The following players achieved exceptional results:

  • Reece McLachlan, 3rd boys u16, Valme Webster 1st girls u16B

NJSA graded tournament a big success

Here are the final results from this weekend’s tournament: NJSA Graded 2017 RESULTS.

As you can gather there was lots of fierce battles on court and the Graded Format seemed to have worked out well for all.

To the outside players, thank you for the time, effort and cost to visit Blue Bull Country and join us this weekend – Central Gauteng, KZN, Mpumalanga and Free State were represented.  It is always a pleasure hosting you and please spread the word.

Northerns Juniors perform in Bloemfontein

The Bloemfontein Junior Open is the first qualifying tournament of the year and it’s here that the players get a chance to put up their hands for SA Top 10 positions in the u14, u16 & u19 age groups. A number of Northerns Juniors did just that and although there are no SA rankings for u11 & u13, Northerns did well in these age groups too.

NJSA Open Graded tournament draws

Attached is the UPDATED draw – NJSA Graded 2017 DRAW, formats and Friday time slots.  Saturday will be released tomorrow BUT please check at the venues as those will be taken as the correct draw times.

Most of the draws follow:

  • Swiss Pairing for Rd 1-2 and Round Robin for Rd 3-5
  • Boys A is only Swiss Pairing
  • Girls A is also only Swiss Pairing however I will revert with the changes
  • Boys C & D are 8 players in a section broken 2 Pools of 4 with Cross Pool.
