The highlight every year for our players is being selected for their province and then participating in the IPTs hosted in various provinces for each age group.

This year was no exception and Northerns players represented their province with distinction. Northerns also hosted the u16 IPT in Pretoria and I am proud to say that the organisation was extremely professional and well-planned.

We thank the NJSA committee for the efforts to stage the tournament and in particular the efforts of Gerda, Reinhardt and Christo for the daily management and streaming of games. I would also like to thank the schools and clubs who made their courts and accommodation available:
Accommodation:
Die Hoërskool Menlopark
Courts:
Pretoria Country Club
Harlequins Squash Club
Pretoria High School Old Boys Club
CBC Squash Club

We also thank Reinhardt Falk, Gerda Dreyer, Christo de Wet and all the stewards and helpers who made our local IPT a great success.

The Growthpoint IPT A-sections were hosted by Northerns Squash this year. All the fixtures took place at either the Glass court in Brooklyn Mall or Pretoria Country Club.

SACD won the ladies section and Joburg Squash won the men’s section. More reports on Squash South Africa’s website.

The schedule of the fixtures can be found at the bottom, with each day’s results listed directly below and the points table below that.

Congratulations to JP Brits and Farrah Sterne on winning the Northerns leg of the Growthpoint SA Regionals. They will go through to the quarter-finals of the SA Nationals.

The final results for the Growthpoint SA Regionals:

The Northerns regional leg of the Growthpoint SA National championships starts on Wednesday evening, 7 October at Pretoria Country Club. A progressive draw is in place and the Ladies’ top seeds will only be in action on Thursday, whereas the Men’s top seeds will start on Friday.

There will however be stiff competition to determine who will take them on after the preliminary rounds. Here are the full draws:

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 regulations, no spectators will be allowed at the matches. Updates will be posted regularly on the website and on social media.

The IPT squad is currently playing matches to determine the final order of the teams for the Growthpoint IPT that takes place from 19-23 October in Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Pietermaritzburg. Here are the results so far:

CHANGE OF PLANS:
With the World Health Organisation having declared the Corona Virus – Covid 19 a global pandemic, and in line with the Government’s no-nonsense approach and the declared national state of disaster, Squash South Africa has with immediate effect postponed all Leagues, (Masters, Senior, Junior, Schools): all Tournaments (Masters, Seniors, Clubs, Juniors, Schools), Sports Art and Culture funded development programmes) until after the Easter Weekend.

The Squash South Africa Executive will be meeting on Wednesday 19th March and action plans will be discussed and put in place for when normal activity will be allowed to return.
